Adding the new income stream of freelance writing was awesome! It is money I now realize has to be treated differently with regard to taxes (self-employed earnings vs. the blogs which are a hobby), but it’s worth it to start getting my name out there as a published travel writer.

The opportunity was the direct result of my backpacking blog, which was over 2 years old by then, and my newest blog called Medellin Living which I began back in February when I saw a HUGE opportunity to write about an up-and-coming South American destination from a foreigner’s perspective (in English).
