Moneymakers

Text Link Ads - This service is amazing, period. It currently accounts for 38% of my online earnings. I have not been very aggressive in raising my link prices, however I consistently run a full inventory of 10 text link ads per month, so the demand for backpacking sites is strong.
Review Me - Run by the same people as Text Link Ads, this service allows you to post your blog in a marketplace so advertisers can purchase paid reviews. Paid reviews currently account for 3% of my earnings.
Direct Sales - Once you start to build certifiable traffic, and a modest Alexa or Technorati ranking, and/or Google Page Rank, then be sure to establish a prominent “Advertise” link in your site’s navigation area. 50% of my earnings have come from direct sales, and of that, 43% were from a single buyer.
Recommendations for Travel Bloggers
Railkey (aka Rail Connection) - Rail passes are a high value product, thus you can easily earn $20, $30, or $40+ per sale. You will make a small fortune when friends or a family order multiple passes! This was my primary income stream back in 2000/2001 when I first began GoBackpacking.com.
